Red Sox vs Yankees at Fenway (June 9, 2009)

View from my seats
Last night, I saw my first live Red Sox / Yankees game at Fenway Park. This is an absolute MUST for anyone living in Boston for any length of time.
We started outside, where getting sausage is an art - luckily it is an art I know well. Insiders tip: sausages get less expensive as you go down Lansdown Street away from the main entrances. By the time I stopped, I was paying $6 for a sausage with onions and peppers, and getting a free drink to go with it. Plus, any stand with a man dressed like a sausage is an automatic winner.

so, so pretty
Then it is time to hunker down into the seats. Awesome seats!!! We got the tickets from Barstool Sports, and ended up in a great location (section 22, row 14, behind home base) and luckily under the roof, since it spat rain the entire time.
We knew we were in for a good one right at the beginning when Ortiz hit a home run in the second. Boo ya! Time for a beer! Two at a time, which means I get to double fist the entire game and not feel bad about it.

Does this look like $7.25 to you?
The rest of the game went smoothly. We totally roughed up the Yankees (suck it, ARod; Burnett, you throw like a girl).
Like the total champs that we are, we ended at the Dug Out on Comm Ave, splitting a pitcher of Smithwicks (nom nom nom) and watching the Magic/Lakers game. Ended the night walking back to Cambridge.
Good job, Red Sox!
CatieDid What?

Why “CatieDid That”?
True story - my aunt used to run a day care center that I went to after school. One day, as we played in the backyard, a very loud, very consistent cicada (aka CatieDid) was doing its thing from one of the trees. Brittney, an adorably curious 3 year old, asked my Aunt “What is that?”
My aunt replied, “A Catie Did”
And, in adorable toddler fashion, Brittney responded “Catie did that?!?? How did Catie DO that?”
I figure I have been surprising people ever since.
What’s this whole “blog” thing about?
Well, this space will be evolving for the first few months so bare with me, but the ultimate goal is to share my experiences with you.
You can see what is coming up on any given night by visiting my twitter account, www.Twitter.com/BostonTonight where I post the great events I hear about in the greater Boston area. I go to as many as I can (marked with an *), and the rest are ones that I would recommend.
After an event is over, I will be updating this site with the sites, sounds and experiences. There is so much that Massachusetts has to offer, so go out and enjoy it!
